Historical overview of the evolution of algebra. Explores the various families of functions, in a logical and ascending order from linear to quadratic to rational and, finally, to the family of exponential functions. Monica Neagoy was educated in France, in Asia, and in the United States and holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Georgetown University, an M.A. from The Catholic University of America, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland.
