Biografia
George Kuchar (31 de agosto de 1942 - 6 de setembro de 2011) foi um cineasta e artista de vídeo americano.
Início da vida
Kuchar formou-se como artista comercial na Escola de Arte Industrial, agora conhecida como a Escola Secundária de Arte e Design, uma escola vocacional em Nova Iorque. Ele se formou em 1960 e desenhou mapas meteorológicos para um programa de notícias locais. Durante esse período, ele e seu irmão gêmeo Mike Kuchar estavam fazendo filmes de 8mm, que foram exibidos na cena de filmes subterrâneos então-em expansão junto com filmes de Andy Warhol, Kenneth Anger, e Stan Brakhage. Ken Jacobs chamou a atenção de seu trabalho para Jonas Mekas, que defendeu seu trabalho na Village Voice e em outros lugares.Após ter sido despedido de um trabalho de arte comercial na cidade de Nova Iorque, Kuchar foi oferecido um trabalho de ensino no departamento de cinema do Instituto de Arte de São Francisco, onde ele ensinou de 1971 até início 2011.Em São Francisco, Kuchar se envolveu com quadrinhos subterrâneos através de seus vizinhos Art Spiegelman e Bill Griffith.
