Dolores "Dolly" Schmidinger (actually: Maria-Dolores Andics-Schmidinger; * 21 September 1946 in Vienna) is an Austrian actress and cabaret artist. As a child, Dolores Schmidinger came into contact with operettas, as her father worked as an opera and operetta singer in the 1950s, including at the Vienna Volksoper. She began an education at the Schauspielschule Krauss during her apprenticeship as a beautician. She started her career at Wiener Bühnen at the age of 17 in Wiener Kellertheatern. In the 1964/65 season she presented her talent at Bronner's Kabarett Theater am Kärntnertor and surprised her male colleagues with her comedic talent. This paved the way for numerous cabaret shows on television.Leon Epp engaged her to the Wiener Volkstheater. There she belonged to the famous Nestroy ensemble under Gustav Manker and played alongside Heinz Petters, Hilde Sochor, Brigitte Swoboda, Rudolf Strobl and Herbert Propst as well as in world premieres by Peter Turrini (Rozznjogd, Die Wirtin, Der lugste Tag) under the direction of Bernd Fischerauer. Her film debut was now even more fantastic in 1970 in Frau Wirtin. In addition to several other roles in film and television, she was active mainly on stage. She proved her versatility as a singer, cabaretist and director and in 1990 she made the big breakthrough with her cabaret program Mit den Waffe(l)n einer Frau. Another great success was the artist with her program Operation Punschkrapferl. In this context, the critics spoke of [...] outstanding comedian skills as well as (social-political) critical meeting certainty [...].In the 2008/2009 season, she staged – as the third operetta after the beggar student and the gypsy baron – the bird dealer in the Große Haus at the Linzer Landestheater, where she herself (for the duet "Ich bin der Prodekan"), slips into the role of a professor.Schmidinger, in addition to her job as an artist, is committed to violence and xenophobia as well as to helping with AIDS, among other things as a model for a poster campaign entitled Sei so dear The actors were photographed naked.
