Biography

Songwriter ("I'm a Fool to Want You", "Sierra Nevada"), composer, arranger, conductor and author, educated at the University of Chicago. He was music director at WMGM between 1946 and 1956 for "MGM Theatre of the Air", "MGM Musical Comedy Theatre of the Air", the US Treasury program "Guest Star", and the "Jane Froman Show". He conducted his own orchestra in night clubs and hotels, and was commissioned to write the score for the Republican Party Centennial in 1955. His stage scores include "Go Fight City Hall", and he wrote a number of musical themes for various musical commercials. He also made many recordings. Joining ASCAP in 1950, his other popular-song compositions include "Take My Love", "Destiny's Darling", "Closer, Closer", "I Push My Heart Through a Horn", "Too Many Times", "Sh'lom bait", "Across the Sea", and "Shocka- boom".
