The film is a sequel to Steirerblut (2014), Steirerkind (2018), Steirerkreuz (2019) and Steirerwut (2020). The screenplay by Wolfgang and Maria Murnberger is based on figures from the Steirerkrimis by Claudia Rossbacher. The film was first broadcast in ORF on 2 October 2021, before it was released on Flimmit The film was first shown on 13 November 2021. The series was continued with Steirerrausch (2021).
