Plot.
The stepbrothers Klaus and Rolf Petersen could hardly be more different. One is a musician, the other a farmer. When both fall in love with the beautiful Sonja and the latter cannot decide, Rolf leaves the village in the direction of America. That same night Klaus is murdered. When Rolf returns ten years later, he has to find that both the police and the villagers consider him the perpetrator.

When the Heath Is in Bloom (German: Wenn die Heide blüht) is a 1960 West German drama film directed by Hans Deppe and starring Joachim Hansen, Walter Richter, and Peter Carsten.The film's art direction was by Willi Herrmann. It was shot at the Bendestorf Studios near Hamburg and on location on Lüneburg Heath.
