Plot.
After a home novel by Paul Keller: Poor hiking musician Robert was born illegitimately, his mother died at birth. One day when he comes to the farm of the farmer Hartmann to work there, he learns to his surprise that Hartmann is his biological father. Since Robert's mother was hunted down by the farm at that time, the father wants to make up for the wrong done and uses Robert as his sole heir. When Hartmann actually dies, Robert renounces his inheritance in favour of the stepbrother, so that he, who is also the father of an illegitimate child, can marry the mother.

Son Without a Home (German: Sohn ohne Heimat) is a 1955 West German drama film directed by Hans Deppe and starring Werner Krauss, Elisabeth Flickenschildt, Josefin Kipper. It was shot at the Spandau Studios in Berlin and on location at Bad Kissingen in Bavaria. The film's sets were designed by the art director Willi Herrmann.
