Plot.
Count Federico Confalonieri conspires to free Lombardy from the Austrians. They arrest him and sentence him to death. But his wife manages, with her pleas, to convince the emperor to commute the sentence in the prison for life at Spielberg. The woman continues to fight, but her health shakes. She will die without seeing her husband again.
