Plot.

Maremma, 1865. Peter, the eldest son of Bastiano, married Oliva. By chance, Bastiano discovers a treasure of jewels of great value. He talks about it with his mother Orsola who prays him to give everything to Our Lady, because on those jewels he weighs a strong curse. Of course he does not consider the words of the mother and immediately in the family he spreads a sense of discontent, among women are born recriminations, especially regarding Oliva, envy and dissides of all kinds Peter's passion for Oliva goes out, brother-in-law Berto falls in love with her and gives her a magnificent jewel, other jewels manage to have from his father-in-law with blackmail, because he saw him steal, until he studies to take away all the treasure by yielding to Berto's wishes and fleeing with him. Bastiano arrives at the moment of the theft and shoots at the thief. When he realizes that he has killed his son, he is mad with pain. Oliva escapes, Peter chases her. They end up in a ravine where they find death.

Tragic Spell (Italian: Incantesimo tragico (Oliva)) is a 1951 Italian historical melodrama film directed by Mario Sequi and starring María Félix, Rossano Brazzi and Massimo Serato.It was shot at Cinecittà Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Saverio D'Eugenio.
