Plot.
Varady, former captain of the ushers, is summoned urgently by his sisters in the family estate located in the Hungarian countryside. His son, who studies in Budapest, has got into trouble, contracting many debts. Varady, once arrived in the Hungarian capital, lets himself go to loose life together with his son and waits for the money his sisters have entrusted to him. The son is in love with a dancer and Varady, as soon as he sees it, recognizes the woman he loved when, as captain, he was stationed in Budapest. She also confesses to him to love him again, but before marrying her, Varady will have to see her with her son and with her feelings.

The Hussar Captain or Captain of the Hussars (Italian: Il capitano degli ussari) is a 1940 Italian comedy film directed by Sándor Szlatinay and starring Clara Tabody, Enrico Viarisio and Pina Gallini. It was made at the Fert Studios in Turin. The film's sets were designed by Alfredo Montori. A separate Hungarian version The Bercsenyi Hussars was also produced.
