A gentleman, who has given himself to banditry following a passionate crime, is captured and sentenced to death. The Council of Ten, who has also imprisoned his innocent son, offers him salvation for himself and for his son if he accepts the office of Bravo of Venice, a sort of secret boia that executes the Council's sentences. Man accepts, but one day he will find himself in front of his own son.
